Shea Butter is extracted from the “nut” of the Shea tree which grows exclusively in the savannah region of West Africa (the Shea Belt). The shea “nut” is the pip of the edible shea fruit. Traditional methods are used to meticulously extract shea butter from the highest quality shea nuts which have been hand-picked. Shea Butter is solid at room temperatures but melts at higher temperatures. It has an off-white or ivory colour. Shea butter has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries. Its high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids, combined with its easy-to-spread consistency, makes it a great ingredient for skin smoothing, soothing, emollience and conditioning. Its versatility makes it suitable for use in skin and haircare products.
